The Community Impact Award was born in 2013, to honour outstanding individuals who made exceptional contributions to the newcomer community.

Each year, the Mennonite New Life Centre honours an exceptional member of the newcomer community with this award. Meet these extraordinary individuals, and read why their life stories and professional achievements have had an impact on the work of the Mennonite New Life Centre and immigrant communities in Toronto.

Mirna Chacin - Community Impact Award Recipient 2017
An Armenian-Canadian entrepreneur and advocate for the social and economic success of immigrants.
A psychologist, counsellor, and communicator, Jorge Saban set an example of dedication to serving families and individuals in the area of domestic violence, addictions, mental health and the criminal justice system.
Jojo Geronimo has a long history as a social justice educator and activist, and his contributions have greatly enriched the debate about these critical topics in Ontario and Canada.
Argentinean born Eva Saphir has been an outstanding volunteer and professional in the field of mental health. She has made tremendous contributions to the Bridge Training Program for Internationally Trained Mental Health Professionals.
