Mennonite New Life Centre of Toronto Announces Official Rebrand to MNLC

New name, same commitment — expanding impact across Ontario

Toronto, ON — The Mennonite New Life Centre of Toronto is proud to announce its official public rebrand to MNLC, marking an exciting new chapter in the organization’s 40-year journey of supporting immigrants, refugees, and newcomers. The updated name reflects MNLC’s growth into a dynamic, multi-service leader in newcomer settlement, mental health, employment, and community development.

Led by Executive Director Dwayne O’Connor, MNLC is launching a new strategic plan focused on expanding its trauma-informed, culturally responsive programming to serve more communities across Ontario. This includes developing new partnerships, enhancing service delivery models, and reaching underserved areas beyond the Greater Toronto Area.

Recent statistics underscore the continued need for responsive newcomer services in Toronto and beyond. According to the 2021 Census, nearly 47% of Toronto’s population is made up of immigrants—one of the highest proportions in Canada (Statistics Canada, 2022). From 2020 to 2024, Canada welcomed over 1.8 million new permanent residents, with a significant share settling in the Greater Toronto Area (IRCC, 2024).

As newcomer demographics shift and service needs grow more complex, MNLC’s rebrand reflects a renewed commitment to meet these challenges head-on with accessible, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive programs.

This is not just a name change,” said O’Connor. “We’re preserving everything our communities value about us, while building capacity to meet growing needs and extend our reach. We want everyone who’s walked alongside us to stay with us as we move forward.”

To support this expansion, MNLC is launching several major fundraising and awareness initiatives rolling out over the next four months:

  • Dreams & Dollars 50/50 Draw – closing August 22: A summer raffle to raise funds for MNLC programs, featuring an early bird prize of $150 and a grand prize drawn on August 25, 2025.
  • Community Event in the Beaches – July 20: A family-friendly afternoon of music, food, and community connection to raise awareness and funds for Aurora House, hosted in Toronto’s Beaches neighbourhood.
  • Sip & Support – August 21: An intimate evening of storytelling and connection in support of Aurora House, MNLC’s unique housing and support program for women and children escaping violence in the forms of Human Trafficking and/or Intimate Partner Violence.
  • Toronto Waterfront Marathon Charity Challenge – October 18: MNLC is proud to be participating in the marathon for its first time as an official charity partner, encouraging supporters to walk or run in support of newcomers and survivors.

Spots are limited and selling fast. The in-person full and half marathons are sold out. There are still spots available in the 5K walk/run. Or you can take part virtually in the full marathon, half marathon, or 5K from wherever you are.

Please register soon, and once you have, send your name and email us at communications@mnlct.org so we can add you to our Team MNLC list and make sure we all connect on race day.

Let’s stand together and make a difference.

These initiatives reflect both our community’s urgent needs and our organization’s long-term vision,” said O’Connor. “As more families arrive seeking safety and stability in Toronto and surrounding areas, we want to be ready with the programs, supports, and care they deserve.”

The rebrand includes a refreshed logo and visual identity that will appear across materials and platforms in phases throughout 2025.
