BREM Admission Process

PRE-APPLICATION STAGE:

Step 1: Attend an Information Session

All applicants must attend a current information session (2025-2026) before they apply. Please register for an online or in-person info session via our Eventbrite page.

There is also an optional Eligibility Tool on the BREM site that can help you understand if you are eligible, and a robust set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the program and the admissions process that are helpful for understanding more details.

After attending an info session, you will receive a link to submit the Application form.

APPLICATION STAGE:

The BREM application process at MNLC takes place in two parts, both at no cost:

Step 2: Submit an Application

First, fill out and submit the Application form on our Apricot platform, using your full legal name.

The Application form will time out after 30 minutes – remember, you are not submitting any documents at this time. After submitting your Application form, you will receive an automated email confirming your Application has been received.

When there are spots available for an upcoming cohort, applications will be reviewed. Processing times are communicated on mnlct.org/brem.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will proceed to Step 3 to upload documents to verify their eligibility. In this case, after your application is reviewed you will receive two emails. One will be from bridging@mnlct.org with instructions on how to set your Apricot Connect account password, and another email will be from “bridgingregistrations@mnlct.org” with the link to log in, the instructions on how to upload the required documents, and the list of documents you must submit to complete your application.

Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will be informed via email.

Step 3: Upload Documents

After your Apricot Connect account is activated you should submit your supporting documentation. (Please note our document retention policy: we are required to keep these documents for seven years if you are enrolled in the program. If you are not eligible or admitted, your documents will be deleted. You may request them to be deleted at any time.)

Please review the list of BREM Documents to Upload you are required to upload to verify your eligibility. Applicants must upload all documents directly to their Apricot Connect account. Documents submitted via email or in person will not be reviewed.

Name each document and upload the document to its corresponding folder. Use specific names that reflect the file’s content, such as “SIN number – First Name Last Name.docx”, “PR card – First Name Last Name.pdf”, etc. For example, PR Card – John Smith.pdf

Please submit all documentation as soon as possible and in an organized manner to avoid delays. Your application will only be reviewed when ALL of your supporting documents have been uploaded to your Apricot Connect account.

Applicants who have attended a current (2025-2026) info session and uploaded all supporting documents will be prioritized.

ASSESSMENT STAGE:

Once the admissions committee reviews your documents and you are approved as eligible for the BREM program, you will move into the Assessment Stage. You will need to make a non-refundable payment of $200 CDN using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Diners Club, or PayPal. There are two assessments in this stage:

Step 4: Professional Communications Assessment

After we receive your payment, you will be invited to a Professional Communications Assessment via an online platform called Mettl. You will receive a link and have up to 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the assessment. You will be notified of the results by email a few days after you complete it.

  • No studying is needed; the assessment evaluates listening, reading, and writing skills.
  • At the beginning of the assessment, you will be required to show photo ID and the system will take a picture of you.

If you successfully pass this assessment you will continue to the Professional Interview.

If you are not successful, you may retake the assessment after 3 months have passed. During this time, you are encouraged to continue improving your communication skills through formal or informal activities. Applicants with strong communication skills are more likely to complete the BREM program successfully.

Step 5: Professional Interview

Once you pass the Professional Communications Assessment, you will be invited to an interview.

Prior to the interview, you will be required to complete a Pre-Interview Questionnaire to help the interviewers learn more about you. You will also receive instructions on preparing a case for discussion during the interview. The interview will last 1 to 1.5-hours.

During the interview, you will meet with two Registered Psychotherapists and one BREM staff member You will answer questions, present your case, and your professional experience in psychotherapy will be evaluated. This interview is virtual, and a picture will be taken.

After the Professional Interview is completed, an admissions decision will be made. You will be notified via email.

If you are not admitted, the email will outline additional career supports that MNLC can provide, including an appointment with an employment counsellor to discuss alternative pathways for reaching your career goals.

ENROLMENT STAGE:

Step 6

If you are accepted into the program, you will receive an email with official enrolment documentation along with an invoice for the first installment of the program fee. Completion of the documentation and payment of the first instalment will reserve your spot in the cohort.
