We look forward to welcoming you again in the new year!

Greetings,

This time of year always catches many of us off-guard. The season seems to come faster and faster each year. Yet, it mostly comes with open arms and a feeling of warmth for the expectation of giving, receiving and togetherness.

This is a time to focus on what matters to us the most. Our family, friends, coworkers and the community. We are here on this planet together and rely heavily upon one another, let’s make the most of it. Seeing the quality of life is sometimes not easy, especially when you are trying to make good moves in a new country with new surroundings. With the help of those who care, we can begin to see light at the end of the tunnel.

We can definitely overcome these challenges together. We may have to work hard on our goals, but we can still make a difference for each other and especially for those who need us.

We are helping through our work at MNLCT. We have taken a stronger stand in helping people earn money, acquire training to help in employment and assist those who need job placement. These additions in service will help to keep food on the table, stay in stable housing and achieve the goal of providing for a family. We are strengthening our Mental Health department to provide counselling and guidance in case you’re having a tough time.

The season of giving is upon us. During these times, many families are getting together to celebrate the holidays or to just get together to strengthen their bonds. We are here for you.

Find our website and our mobile app to learn more, or even receive the support you need from our highly experienced and talented team.

This year, we continue moving forward to reach more clients and families. Through training, workshops, online courses, and personalized employment counselling support, we have already supported close to 600 clients to prepare for and find work. We are also consolidating our extension of services to Simcoe and Oxford counties, providing employment services, language training, bridging careers, mental health, and healthcare support. See our Annual Appeal for stories of our impact.

As we continue to adapt to the needs of newcomers, we cannot do this without YOU. Your support through donations, volunteering or spreading the word, has helped us support more clients every year. Together we are making a real difference in the lives of newcomers.

We are sharing an update on the technical issues MNLC is experiencing.

When the issue was first identified, it appeared to be a technical disruption with one of our systems. Through further investigation, we confirmed that the technical issue was the result of a malicious cybersecurity incident.

Since then, we have been working closely with external cybersecurity experts to understand what happened, contain the incident, and secure our systems.

Based on what we know so far, we have not found evidence that clients’ personal information has been accessed. Our investigation is ongoing, and we are continuing to assess the full scope. If we determine that anyone’s personal information has been affected, we will contact those individuals directly.

We know this disruption has made it harder to reach us, and we are sorry for the frustration and concern this may have caused—especially for the newcomers, refugees, and others in our community who rely on our services. We understand that privacy, safety, and access to support are especially important, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our phone and email systems remain temporarily unavailable as we take the necessary steps to restore them safely. In the meantime, you can continue to reach us at the temporary emails listed below for urgent matters, or visit us in person.

As a precaution, we encourage everyone to be cautious of unexpected emails, phone calls, or messages claiming to be from our organization. We will not ask for sensitive personal information through unofficial channels.

We will continue to share updates as we learn more.

Thank you for your patience and trust. We are actively addressing the incident and strengthening our systems to better protect the people we serve.

Our offices will be closed from Friday, April 3 to Monday, April 6. We will reopen on Tuesday, April 7.
Happy Easter to those who celebrate!
