Uma Viswanathan talks about her career success after recently graduating from the mental health bridging program.
After completing the BREM program, I was immediately hired as a First Call Care Counsellor at Homewood Health. I am happy to be working as a part of the Client Service Team providing counselling under the Wellness Together Canada Project. We offer information and resources over the telephone to clients who prefer virtual and immediate assistance.
This is a rewarding and meaningful career solely to decrease the suffering and improving the quality of life of others. It also supports me and my family.”
Counselling is done within a framework of single session intervention using a Solution Focused Behaviour Therapy approach, which offers tangible, present-oriented solutions. I provide crisis counselling, assess risks, document, and maintain crisis-call protocols, and provide suicide prevention interventions such as developing safety plans.
